What's the difference between Wire EDM and Conventional EDM?
Invented in the early 1980's- Wire EDM uses brass wire available in different diameters, as well as a specially induced electrical current to slice thru conductive materials while under deionized water. It is controlled via CNC movements. It is considered one of the most accurate forms of machining in the World. The shapes and contours that Wire EDM can make, has opened up a complete new world in Machining.

Conventional EDM was invented in the 1960's, the process is conducted with a Graphite or Tungsten Electrode machined to the desired shape, it then uses a special induced electrical current to burn the conductive material away while under a oil called ( Dielectric fluid). It can make shapes in metal that are otherwise unachievable.

What's the smallest corner Radii achievable?
Wire EDM machines come with different degrees of controllers. Some can use wires as small as .001 and are limited to small work.
The standard industry machines use wire sizes from .008-.012 with .010 being the standard. The most economical achievable radii is .005 which is made naturally with .010 wire.

What is the most economical thickness for Wire EDM cutting?
Wire EDM machines are judged at 2.0 inch thick, this is where they have been designed to have the best rate of climb/cut.
Thinner work goes a little slower and thicker work goes a lot slower.

What is a your price per inch?
Every job is different. Desired tolerance, finish, the thickness of the parts etc. These factors change the price.
There is also design, programming, job setup that all change with each job. Some work has to be deadly accurate and the price matches the requirement.

Is Wire EDM comparable to Water jet and Laser?

For certain jobs Wire EDM is the better choice.
An example would be Water jet is only accurate to about .005 and can only cut about 2.0 thick to this tolerance.
While Wire EDM is accurate to about .0002, and also has the ability to cut up to 15.0 thick with good accuracy.

If thin parts are what you are after Wire EDM cuts stacks of parts more accurate and cleaner than comparable Laser cutting.
If they are stacked and nested properly the price can be better as well..
